Valpolicella Red Wine

Valpolicella red wine from a family winery since 1963

Venturini Massimino has been producing Valpolicella red wine in San Pietro in Cariano since 1963, when the family started farming 15 hectares of hillside vineyards at 250 metres altitude in the Classica zone. Four generations later, the winery still works with Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara, the native grape varieties that define this part of Veneto. The vineyards sit on light, limestone-rich soils and grow on traditional dry-stone terraces (called “marogne” locally), with a south-west exposure that favours slow, even ripening. Every bottle in the range starts here, from the same land and the same varieties, whether it ends up as a fresh Valpolicella Classico or a structured Amarone.

From Valpolicella Classico to Amarone: the full range

The Venturini production covers two families of Valpolicella red wine. The first is the traditional line: Valpolicella Classico DOC and Valpolicella Classico Superiore, both made from fresh grapes without drying, lively and easy to pair with everyday meals. Then there is the dried-grape line, where the same varieties go through a slow drying process that concentrates sugars and flavour before fermentation. This method produces the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, dry and full bodied, the Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore, which gains extra body from a second fermentation on Amarone pomace, and the Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, the sweet counterpart, ideal with chocolate desserts or aged cheeses. The range also includes IGT wines (the Rosso Veronese “Massimino”, the sparkling rosé Brut E…lisa, and the white Passito “Il Castelliere”) for those who want something outside the classic appellations.
